State Government boosts funding for boating facilities
Peter Katsambanis MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, today welcomed the opening of the latest round of funding under the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS).
The Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS) grants are awarded to state, local and other government authorities for development of public recreational boating facilities in Western Australia, including:
- Planning new public recreational boating facilities.
- Building new public recreational boating facilities.
- Upgrading existing public recreational boating facilities.
“I know there are thousands of Perth locals who love getting out on their boat at every opportunity, so I am pleased to see the State Government is providing more funding for local authorities to adequately plan, build or upgrade public recreational boating facilities.” Mr Katsambanis said.
“Boat owners make a direct contribution to the scheme as it is partly funded from boat registration fees, so it is only fair they gain a direct benefit from the fees that they pay.
"I look forward to working with local authorities across the North Metropolitan Region to get even better boating facilities for our local area." Mr Katsambanis concluded.
Applications can also be considered for the planning, construction or upgrade of boat launching ramps, jetties, moorings, breakwaters and new channels directly related to a public recreational boating facility.
