Sports equipment grants now open for local clubs

Peter Katsambanis MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, has called on local sporting clubs in Perth’s northern suburbs to apply for the latest round of grants from the State Government’s Community Sporting Club Equipment Subsidy.

This important initiative from the WA Liberal Government allows sporting clubs to purchase new or upgraded shared sporting equipment to be used by their members. The equipment can range from balls, goal posts, bats, nets, padding or other necessary sporting equipment depending on the needs of each sport and each club.

“Local sporting clubs from Butler, Joondalup, Quinns Rocks, Wanneroo and Yanchep are already enjoying the use of equipment purchased from the funding they received late last year,” Mr Katsambanis said.

“I encourage all our local clubs to take advantage of this latest funding round to replace ageing equipment or buy new equipment that will give more opportunities for local residents to participate in sporting and recreational activities.

“There are enormous health and social benefits for people of all ages to get active through sporting activities at their local clubs and knowing they will have access to high quality, shared equipment removes a major barrier to involvement.

“I encourage everyone to get involved with their favourite local sporting club to gain the benefits of regular exercise and to make new friends.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.
