Recognising excellence in WA business

Peter Katsambanis, Member for North Metropolitan Region, this morning announced the finalists for the 2013 WA Industry and Export Awards at a breakfast held at Fraser’s in King’s Park.

The WA Industry and Export Awards is the State Government’s premier business awards program.

The Awards recognise and honour the substantial individual contribution made by Western Australian businesses to the economy by creating employment and prosperity for the broader community.

“The WA Industry and Export Awards, now in their 25th year, provide a platform to promote the State’s high achievers in both local and overseas markets.” Mr Katsambanis said.

“WA’s exporters were major contributors to Australia’s overall export performance, generating about 46 per cent of the nation’s total exports in 2011-12.”

“Western Australia has a long history of producing successful businesses, small and large, that achieve exceptional outcomes at home and overseas.”

Mr Katsambanis said the finalists represented a diverse range of sectors, including education and training, engineering, health and biotechnology, information and communications technology, manufacturing, and minerals and energy.

"I congratulate the finalists in these awards for their marvellous achievements so far and wish them continued success in the future to help provide even more employment opportunities and drive economic growth across our state," Mr Katsambanis said.
