Popular Sunset Coast trail gets new signage
Peter Katsambanis MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, welcomed today’s announcement that a popular coastal trail in the northern suburbs will receive new signage through a $25,000 grant from the State Government.
“The Ride the Sunset Coast trail is a 14km stretch along our magnificent coastline from Marmion to Burns Beach with amazing ocean views and great diversity of flora and fauna." Mr Katsambanis said.
“As the name suggests, it is also one of the best places to watch the spectacular Perth sunsets.
“This funding from Lotterywest will go towards installing new signage on the popular trail, which is used by thousands of locals and tourists every day.
Across Western Australia 14 community and local government organisations secured grants as part of the annual Trails Grant Round provided by Lotterywest, in partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation.
The program offers grants from $25,000 up to $100,000 to support the planning, construction, upgrade and promotion of various types of trails including walking, cycling, horseriding and paddling routes.
“Western Australia’s coastline is one of our most precious assets, so I’m very happy to see the State Government assisting in the maintenance of popular amenities like this trail.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.
For every dollar West Australians spend on Lotterywest games, 33 cents is returned to benefit the community.
Last financial year Lotterywest raised $271.3million to support WA’s public hospitals, arts and sporting organisations, Perth Festival, ScreenWest and more than 1,000 different community and charitable organisations.
