State Government gives local sporting clubs early Christmas presents

Peter Katsambanis MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, has welcomed news that the State Government has awarded equipment grants to many local sporting clubs in Perth’s growing northern suburbs.

The local sporting clubs that will receive $500 each to upgrade their equipment under the latest round of funding from the Community Sporting Club Equipment Scheme include:

  • Butler Little Athletics
  • Joondalup Lakers Basketball Club
  • Quinns Districts Amateur Football Club
  • Quinns Districts Junior Football Club
  • Quinns Rocks Little Athletics Club
  • Quinns Rocks Junior Cricket Club
  • Wanneroo Flag Marshal Association
  • Yanchep Netball Club
  • Yanchep Red Hawks Football Club

“I am very happy to see such a great variety of local clubs benefiting from this worthwhile scheme.” Mr Katsambanis said.

The scheme, which started last year, gives local sporting clubs a one-off $500 subsidy to spend on increasing or upgrading shared sporting equipment accessible to all club members.

“Local communities are built around volunteer-led organisations like sporting clubs. Often budgets are tight, and sometimes shared equipment needs are not met.

“People who get together to play their favourite sport year-in and year-out contribute a lot to the fabric of our society, at both senior and junior levels.

“Through these grants, the WA Government recognises the positive contribution of sporting clubs across our state.

“I encourage everyone to get involved with their favourite local sporting club to gain the benefits of both regular exercise and strong camaraderie.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.
