Local clubs receive a bonus for new sporting gear

Hon Peter Katsambanis MLC, Member for North Metropolitan Region, has welcomed the news that several local sporting clubs will benefit from the latest round of grants from the Community Sporting Club Equipment Subsidy Scheme.

These grants will provide $500 towards new equipment for the summer season for:

  • Ridgewood Little Athletics Centre;
  • Quinns Calisthenics Club;
  • Quinns Rocks Junior Cricket Club; and
  • Sun City Yacht Club.

Throughout Western Australia, more than 200 clubs will benefit from this program, including 111 clubs in the Perth metropolitan area.

“The subsidies enable these clubs to increase or upgrade their sporting equipment, allowing more people in our community to get active and enjoy the health and social benefits of participating in sport,” Mr Katsambanis said.

Administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation, the four-year scheme grants $1 million to metropolitan clubs and $1 million to regional clubs. To date 1375 clubs have received a total of $793,500 through the Community Sporting Club Equipment Scheme.

“The next round opens for applications opens in mid-March 2016,” Mr Katsambanis continued.

“I encourage all of our local sporting clubs to apply if they are eligible.”
