Laughter is the best medicine - Camp Quality celebrates 30 years

31 October 2013

Camp Quality is celebrating 30 years of wonderful service to children with cancer and their families.

Peter Katsambanis, Member for North Metropolitan Region, today represented the WA State Government at Camp Quality’s 30th anniversary celebration in Perth, hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to thank Camp Quality, on behalf of Western Australia, and acknowledge the tireless work this organisation has done over the past three decades,” Mr Katsambanis said.

“As a children’s cancer charity, Camp Quality helps creates better lives for children living with cancer in Australia. Their service is invaluable and I am very proud to help celebrate this important milestone.

“They really do deliver on their motto ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine’ by putting smiles on the faces of everyone they come into contact with and making life easier for families going through very stressful times.”

Camp Quality provides support to children and families via interactive education, resources and by creating opportunities for families to enhance normality and celebrate life.

“The State Government has an exemplary record when it comes to investing in children’s health. We’ve recently committed to funding two new oncology medical staff at Princess Margaret Hospital. This is in addition to the once-in-a-generation investment at Perth Children’s Hospital, set for opening in late 2015.

“We are also investing significantly in paediatric services at metropolitan hospitals outside PMH and Perth Children’s Hospital. By expanding paediatric services in other metropolitan hospitals, we will allow more families to attend their local hospital when specialised tertiary care is not required.

“This means care will be provides closer to home where appropriate and more space will be available at PMH and Perth Children’s Hospital.”

Camp Quality is led in Western Australia by a committed team based at its office in Subiaco and is supported by an amazing group of passion and committed volunteers.
