Joining together to take a stand for democratic freedoms

Peter Katsambanis MLC, Liberal Member for North Metropolitan, has gladly accepted an invitation to join Friends of Israel WA as a Patron.

As a staunch supporter of Israel and with many friends and colleagues in the Melbourne Jewish community, Peter was involved in establishing the Parliamentary Friends of Israel in Victoria during his term of office representing Monash Province in the Victorian Parliament.

Since his election to the Legislative Council in Western Australia in 2013, Peter has made it a priority to involve himself in the WA Parliamentary Friends of Israel, meeting with other Patrons and members of the committee, and attending FOIWA events.

“As young, dynamic, democratic and forward-thinking countries, Australia and Israel have much in common. In an increasingly hostile world, Friends of Israel allows Western Australians to take a stand for democratic values and freedoms by supporting the true champion of those values in the Middle East.” Mr Katsambanis said. 

“It is important to raise our wider community’s awareness of Israel’s commitment to human rights and democracy, and to promote her position as Australia’s true ally in a volatile region.

“I look forward to working with the members of FOIWA, my parliamentary colleagues and the broader WA Jewish community in standing for democratic freedoms and to always ensure our way of life is protected.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.
