Celebrating our best teachers and schools

Nominations are now open for the 2014 WA Educations Awards.

Peter Katsambanis, Liberal Member for North Metropolitan Region, encourages local communities to nominate anyone from their school who has shown dedication and excellence in their field.

“These awards are an important way of acknowledging and celebrating the vital role that public school teachers and assistants play in preparing our children for the future.” Mr Katsambanis said.

“There are four new categories this year to recognise excellence in Aboriginal education, as well as outstanding education assistants and school support staff.

“Each award winner will receive a $25,000 prize, and each winning school will receive $15,000. A portion of the prize money will be spent on professional learning. Finalists will each receive a $2,500 prize.

“Perth’s northern suburbs, such as Yanchep and Butler, are home to many new schools which have been built and opened by the WA State Government to cater for the tremendous population growth experienced in recent years.

“I know the teachers and support staff building these new school communities do such a fantastic job in developing culture, school pride and a sense of place, so it would be great to see them nominated for their wonderful efforts.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.

The winners in 11 categories will share $337,500 in prizes.  The categories are:

  • WA Premier’s Primary Teacher of the Year
