$2.4million boost for sporting facilities in Perth's northern suburbs

Peter Katsambanis, Member for the North Metropolitan Region, today welcomed the State Government’s announcement of a $2.4 million boost for sporting facilities in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The funding will be provided to the City of Wanneroo and the City of Joondalup to help fund the following projects:

  • $400,000 for the construction of a new pavilion at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex;
  • $1.2 million for the construction of a synthetic hockey pitch and a new pavilion at Warwick open space;
  • $105,275 for the installation of floodlighting at Secreast Park; and
  • $750,000 for the construction of a community clubroom facility and floodlighting at Bramston Park in Burns Beach.

These grants allow local sporting groups to undertake projects which they might not otherwise have been able to afford.

“Offered annually, the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) grants for projects costing more than $150,000 are designed to contribute to the construction or improvement of grassroots sporting and recreation facilities across Western Australia,” Mr Katsambanis said.

“By providing the City of Wanneroo and the City of Joondalup with this funding, the State Government is helping to encourage the community to become more active.

“We know that being involved in sport at a grass roots level not only brings the community together but it can foster team work, improve mental and physical health as well as lowering crime and truancy.” Mr Katsambanis concluded.

These grants to local groups are part of the $17.7 million CSRFF program announced today which will fund 28 new projects across Western Australia.
